So I am beginning to feel better than I did before I started juicing but today I have been quite obsessed with food and fantasising about what I can eat on Monday. it is all healthy stuff but I am feeling frustrated at all the lovely veggies I have in the garden which I want to crunch on or chew, rather than juicing. I am getting fed up with juice but I have stuck with it.
It was a beautiful sunny day today. We need to make the most of them because summer is drawing to a close. The shadows in the morning are so long in the garden now. Have I shown you inside the greenhouse recently? Everything is doing well but it is fair to say the produce is not prolific, I assume because I planted everything so late.
These are aubergines.
They have really shot up in the last 2 weeks and are beginning to flower.
The tomatoes are now looking good and healthy but they did not flower much.
There are a few tomatoes growing though.
The cucumber plants look really healthy but are producing very few fruit.
Do you know what these are?
Red Okra, also known as ladies Fingers. I am definitely trying one of those on Monday.
Good morning sunshine.
The trombetti are both prolific and enormous!
I am really pleased with these dahlias; they have done a good job of hiding the ugly coal bunker.
On to the juicing. I began the day with hot water and lemon and then a ginger shot.
This is my juicing corner of the kitchen. The wall chart that came with the book is really helpful.
These are the ingredients for ‘Nature’s Super Blend’ which I had at about 10 am and then another this evening. Apple, courgette, lime, carrots, cucumber, broccoli, half a green pepper, celery and half an avocado. This is the quantity for one juice.
You juice everything except the avocado and then blend the juice with the avocado and ice. Adding the avocado is genius because it makes it taste thick and creamy and really helps keep hunger at bay.
It tastes good too.
The other juice I had twice today was ‘Minty Sunshine’. I usually make my juice as I want to drink rather than in advance but I did a double amount of this one so these are the ingredients for 2 juices. Carrots, oranges, fresh mint and ginger.
Jason recommends peeling the outer layer and leaving the pith as the pith contains a lot of nutrients. I conclude, after trying a knife and a peeler, that the peeler leaves the most pith but does take longer.
Not my favourite juice but pleasant enough.
So 4 days down, 1 to go. I can not wait to eat some real food.
