My Fitness Pal

Some of my friends use http://www.myfitnesspal.com to track what they eat and how  much they exercise.  I decided to try it today.  If you track Weight Watchers points it does work and help you lose weight.  But I want to be aware of all the calories I eat.  With WW, too many foods are classified as having zero points when actually they have calories and they obviously add up.  Especially when you eat quite a lot of fruit and vegetables like I do.  So I am trying calorie counting and My Fitness Pal is an easy and free way to track them.

Breakfast and cups of tea consumed during the morning.

Today I had the pod superfood without the toast.pod superfood 2

I would guess this is 2 eggs, with some Feta cheese, seeds, spinach and tomato.  It is quite the most delicious breakfast I have bought recently.pod superfood

This is what I had for lunch.Itsu man 2

Oh dear, my camera seems to be jammed, here he is again 🙂

I had an Itsu Potsu and I am full of admiration for their design.Itsu Potsu

This was not what I expected.  It was called an Itsu Potsu 7 Veg and I assumed it was a miso soup or veggie broth full of vegetables.  It was actually a mix of brown and wild rice with 7 vegetables.  It was tasty but quite dry.  You can choose a broth to have with it and I will do that next time – memo to self to read labels properly.

Thinking I was eating a broth with vegetables, I also bought a crab matki so I ended up having a lot more rice than I wanted.  Both meals were delicious though.Itsu crab maki

Itsu – Crab California, 1 container 238 20 14 9 Ico_delete

For supper I made a quick and easy smoothie.  I don’t need to list out the ingredients as I can let My Fitness Pal do that 🙂

tofu and berries

This tasted lovely and because I used a frozen banana and frozen berries it was like eating an ice-cream!Tofu berry smoothie

I have enjoyed my day tracking what I ate and drank.  Besides the food and drink I consumed here, I also ate a tangerine and drank water :-).  Another healthy day.

Even better, I under-ate by 300 calories today.  I set it up so I would lose 1 pound a week but I ate less than my daily allowance so hopefully I will lose a bit more this week.  My daily total is higher than you may expect because I earned 220 by walking.

Totals 1,550 165 73 76
Your Daily Goal 1,850 254 61 69
Remaining 300 89 -12 -7

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)

Zoe, I know in my heart that MFP will help you release that weight you want. You become much more accountable and it does become a lifestyle you pay attention to. I don’t use the food part much anymore because I know how many calories, sugars, sodium I am consuming and using that to my advantage and it works. When I do eat something new I always use it to see what the count is for the three of them. Too much sugar puts on the weight and too much sodium holds onto the weight in water. There are lots of people who use WW and MFP and it is a win/win combination. I am HAPPY DANCING you are going to use this amazing free tool.
