The End Of The Week

I survived the first week at a new job.  Phew.  We are all still alive and happy ( I think) but I am knackered.   Completely, totally and utterly.  I could have done without the boiler giving up on Wednesday, since when we have had no hot water or heating.  Thank you Marion for the hot shower last night.  And I could have done without coming up with a fancy dress outfit for World Book Day today but ‘Just William’ did look adorable.  I definitely need to rethink my eating strategy as wandering round Borough Market is proving too tempting.

Tonight’s blog will be brief.  I hope you will forgive me but the first glass of red is warming up my cockles and I have an irresistible urge to snuggle up on the sofa with the little fella.

Breakfast – you were right Vicky and I made my own to take in: quinoa, mango and pecans.  It tasted lovely and I will do this again.

Lunch – I had to return.  Look at that one in the middle.

Here’s a close up of that oozing runny cheese.

The Raclette maker thinks he will sell 16 halves of cheese today as the market was so crowded!

It was lovely again but not quite as perfect as yesterdays, mainly because the turnover was so rapid it was all melted and oozy.  Which was delicious but I really like the well cooked and chewy bits.

A potter around the market.  I love this fruit and vegetable stall,  Turnips.  James loves mushrooms so I bought him some pink and yellow ones.  I may even be favourite wife tomorrow when he has those for breakfast!

I also bought some blood oranges which are from Sicily.  I thought of you Mirella and if you want some next week I’ll get some for you :-).  They only have a 6 week season and this is week 3.  I had one this afternoon and it was lovely.

I also decided a Friday treat was in order – a ginger flapjack.  Really good with big chunks of crystallised ginger in it.

Back at home, the heating engineer was here but the bad news is that we need a new gas valve so he has to contact the boiler company.  So my little fantasy or relaxing in a hot bubble bath remains just that, a fantasy for now!  He did leave us a fan heater which helps as it is much colder today.  A large glass of red helped too.

Supper was Boeuf Bourgignon left over from last Friday which Kath and I made – thinking of you all gals!  With a jacket potato and butter.  No veg – I just couldn’t be bothered.

So the week has ended.  It was a good week and I am looking forward to the week ahead.  But not as much as I am looking forward to this weekend.  Have a good one x

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
