I managed 2 more fast days this week and was rewarded with a 1 pound loss, That makes 7 pounds lost in 3 weeks which I am happy with. Both fast days this week, I ate nothing all day and then had one meal in the evening. I find that the easiest way to do it, rather than having 2 or more small meals throughout the day.
I fasted on Monday and Thursday; I worked on both days so supper was very simple.
On Monday I had a wholemeal wrap with houmous, carrots, tomato and celery. This was 449 calories (The wrap was 218 and the houmous 183 ). Thursday’s supper was 500 calories exactly which was perfect. Celery and cherry tomatoes with some vegan Caesar dressing.
With a fat free roasted cauliflower and baked sweet potato. A bit bland perhaps but good enough to someone who was very hungry.
Today was the day after a fast and I did feel very hungry. I had some banana bread and tea for breakfast.
It’s Good Friday so I wasn’t at work and Harvey wasn’t at school so we went out for the day. It was beautiful weather so we headed to the seaside – Hastings. We had lunch in a really diddy little Morrocan cafe in the Old Town, called Cafe Maroc.
The menu was simple and cheap and the service was friendly and efficient. I had a rose lemonade which was delicious and Harvey had a mango juice.
We just had a starter as they were quite substantial. I had the houmous and olives with pitta bread which was excellent.
After our lunch we enjoyed pottering about in the lovely Spring sunshine.
We went to Hanushka in George Street for coffee (me) and cake (Harvey) and enjoyed an intellectual (?) game of Ludo while we relaxed.
We then made the most of the weather and location and walked along the beach and then up in to the country park.
There is so much to look at on the beach and I am always surprised about how much fishing equipment is just left out on the beach.
We walked past the fishing huts and over to the East Hill Lift to get up to the country park.
I have seen this lift going up and down so many times but have never been in it before and it was great.
We took time to sit and look at the view of the sea and Hastings town.
We then had a choice; take the lift back down to the town or walk down. I was sure there must be a path.
Hmm, there was a bit of a path for a while and then it disappeared.
There was of course a well marked footpath but we didn’t see it until we were at the bottom of the hill and instead had a rather challenging scramble down over the vegetation which included a lot of very prickly brambles!
We followed other footpaths and came out in the Belmont area of Hastings which was lovely.
I really enjoyed having no agenda, no time constraints, no map and no idea where we were going. The weather was perfect for walking and Harvey and I really enjoyed our day in Hastings.
Back at home I enjoyed some chocolates.
Supper was a very easy vegan burger, using ready made burgers by Biona and served on a wholemeal roll from Judges in Hastings, which I enjoyed with a large glass of red wine. That’s the joy of the Fast Diet – you can eat why you like on a non Fast Day, although obviously you should not go crazy and I should have eaten a lot more fruits and veggies but I just didn’t today.
It is Easter! We had a very Good Friday – I hope you did too.
Well done and I like your story – Kathryn’s mum
