An April Weekend

I definitely did not stick to 801010 eating this weekend!

Well sometimes I did, such as Friday morning’s honeydew melon for breakfast.honeydew melonFriday’s sweet potato and salad lunchsweet potato, salad, sproutsLots of green leaves, sweet tomatoes, sprouts and tahini.  Unfortunately, due to an early evening card game, vast amounts of crisps and too much wine the day ended badly from a diet point of view but brilliantly from a having great fun perspective.  Thank you Sarah, Sarah and Marion for a fantastically entertaining 2 hours.

Harvey and I had lots of errands to run in Tunbridge Wells and we had lunch in ‘Camden Quarter’.  The place was rather lacklustre, drab and seemed tired and there were no vegan options but they did have an excellent range of vegetable dishes so I ate those.  Crispy kale with sesame seeds.Kale crisps Sweet potato fries.sweet potato fries Broccoli spears.   So far, reasonably healthy.broccoli Unfortunately the afternoon took a downward turn.Cocolicious 2 We popped in to Cocolicious in Cranbrook for a cuppa.  They have just celebrated their first birthday and the cafe was filled with sunshine and balloons.Cocolicious 1And cake.  It was filled with far too much cake.  I had cake and half a home made Oreo cookie.  So much sugary naughtiness but we did enjoy ourselves.H in Cocolicious 1 Saturday was one of those amazing big blue sky days and the world looked bright and shiny and beautiful.Cranbrook windmill 1

I have been doing some simple home renovations and decluttering.  My kitchen and utlility room had not been painted for about 10 years and were looking grimy.  I had the walls and ceiling painted white and removed a couple of cupboards, including a huge cupboard on this wall.Kitchen in progress It looks so much better now.Newly painted kitchen Today also included some non 801010 eating.  Lots of it actually.  I was at my Dad’s with my sisters to celebrate his birthday.  We all took along the food and there were plenty of whole food and plant food options. At Dad's 2 I really enjoyed the green salad Holly took and the two veggie salads Lucy took.  It was all really delicious.vegan lunch This was my undoing.  The spectacular cake Abi made for Dad.  I had 2 slices of that and some Brie on crackers.Abi's cake Plus one of Harry’s delicious macaroons.  Hey ho!Harry's macaroons It was a lovely day, sitting in the sunshine.at Dad's 1 at Dad's boys footie Dad's patio Olivia and Trevor children in garden

Tomorrow is another day and 801010 can continue then.  Happy birthday to Dad, Jilly, Jane and Cocolicious!  Can there please be no more birthdays or other temptations this week!

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
