Ever since I came out in a bad rash at the beginning of the year, I have had a very sensitive skin. The Doctor explained my immune response to whatever it was I reacted to could take 2 months to calm down. But it seems to keep flaring up which suggests to me that I keep eating what I am reacting to. I think it may be gluten. For a very long time I have noticed that bread makes me feel bloated, gasy and very tired so I do not eat much of it. But wheat in any form and oats are also making me feel tired, foggy headed and more recently, have very dry skin, spots and blotches. So today I decided to eat very simply which meant raw fruits and vegetables. Well, I think it’s the wheat and oats so I need to give them up and see if I feel better.
Today was bright and sunny to begin with but rather cold. I took half a small watermelon and some grapes to work for breakfast. I also had a large soy milk latte.
I popped out to Covent Garden at lunch time – less than a 5 minute walk from the office which is great. Nil point for helpfulness from the Apple store though.
I went to M&S to buy a selection of fruit to munch on. I didn’t eat all this; I ate less than half and the remainder is in the fridge at work for tomorrow and Thursday.
I did eat about half of these which was probably about 8.
None of these.
All of these – I do like mango.
All of these. I like pineapple but after I had eaten half of it my tongue began to feel as if it was burning.
None of these.
One of these which was lovely. Crisp, firm and sweet.
No grapes but all the orange juice.
Supper was a green smoothie. 3 frozen bananas, half an avocado, a huge handful of spinach, some coconut water and a heaped teaspoon of Out Of The Woods.
It made a huge bowlful of green goodness.
So yummy and so easy to make and then eat.
I definitely feel more alert and energetic than I did yesterday which is a good start and not at all hungry so I am going to try consuming just fruits and veggies again tomorrow. No improvement to my skin yet but it will take a few days for that to improve.
When I had all the problems with my lips last winter, that never really did go away completely, but got much better, I always believed it was something I was eating. I had eczema around my lips and eyes at the same time as the massive swelling that indicated an allergy. Elimination of absolutely everything didn’t give me any relief. Only time helped it and some ointment the health store was able to direct me to, that made a massive difference.
Zoe, maybe it is Grains period you are having a reaction to.
I cannot eat Oats period. When I do, within half an hour I am feeling like I have to eat again because it always feels like I didn’t even eat. The only bread I can eat is Rye bread for some reason that doesn’t make me feel bloated. I have been like this since peri-menopause all those years ago now.
