Summer was back today and I enjoyed it all. The summer weather and the summer food.
The breakfast stars were this peach and apricots. I intended to blend them with frozen bananas to make an ice-cream consistency smoothie but it ended up a bit runnier which made a perfect smoothie. 1 peach, 2 apricots, 2 frozen bananas, blended until very smooth and topped with berries from the garden and activated almond butter.
Completely delicious and such a smooth consistency.
At lunch time I was going to have a salad with tomatoes from the garden but they are all split. Does anyone know why this happened?
I then decided to have a pot of soup. One of the Little Fella’s favourite meals is soup. He wasn’t hungry for lunch until he saw what I was having and then he was hungry so this pot was shared but with no bread it did not make a very substantial lunch.
So I grated some mature cheddar cheese in to my mug and that small portion was perfect.
Washed down with some Yerba Mate tea.
For dinner Lara wanted a roast chicken and she agreed to make it. My contribution was to pick and prepare the runner beans.
A G&T – it had to be done.
Lara made us a fantastic roast chicken dinner and I enjoyed it all.
We had a lovely walk in the woods today, making the most of the late summer sunshine. So all in all, not a bad day on a diet.
I think tomatoes split when they have been inconsistently watered – This happens to a lot of my tomatoes because I am a careless and forgetful gardener, but you can still use them in soups and sauces. Love the look of that smoothie 🙂

The smoothie was amazing. I didn’t like the look of them so they made it to the compost heap !
