Summer Was Back

Summer was back today and I enjoyed it all.  The summer weather and the summer food.

The breakfast stars were this peach and apricots.  I intended to blend them with frozen bananas to make an ice-cream consistency smoothie but it ended up a bit runnier which made a perfect smoothie.apricots and peach 1 peach, 2 apricots, 2 frozen bananas, blended until very smooth and topped with berries from the garden and activated almond butter.peach and apricot smoothie Completely delicious and such a smooth consistency.smothie raspberries blueberries At lunch time I was going to have a salad with tomatoes from the garden but they are all split.  Does anyone know why this happened?split cherry tomatoes I then decided to have a pot of soup.  One of the Little Fella’s favourite meals is soup.  He wasn’t hungry for lunch until he saw what I was having and then he was hungry so this pot was shared but with no bread it did not make a very substantial lunch.pea and ham soup So I grated some mature cheddar cheese in to my mug and that small portion was perfect.pea and ham soup with cheese Washed down with some Yerba Mate tea.Yerba Mate tea 31-8 For dinner Lara wanted a roast chicken and she agreed to make it.  My contribution was to pick and prepare the runner beans.garden runner beans A G&T – it had to be done.G&T 31-8 Lara made us a fantastic roast chicken dinner and I enjoyed it all.Roast chicken dinner 31-8

We had a lovely walk in the woods today, making the most of the late summer sunshine.  So all in all, not a bad day on a diet.

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)

  1. I think tomatoes split when they have been inconsistently watered – This happens to a lot of my tomatoes because I am a careless and forgetful gardener, but you can still use them in soups and sauces. Love the look of that smoothie 🙂
