Walking Through Whitehall

This morning was unexpected.  There was a problem with my usual station in London so my train was diverted to a London station I had not been to for many many years; London Victoria.

Victoria StationWhen I lived in Surrey, I regularly came to Victoria so having got over the annoyance of the disruption to my morning commute, I was looking forward to seeing this area of London I once knew so well.  I decided to walk to work.
tall stripey chuurch stripey church The area around Victoria is like a giant building site and obviously has been for a very long time.  There are so many tall buildings there now, which dwarf the few remaining old buildings.Albert pub Instead of walking through the park I took a wrong turn and came in to Whitehall, the seat of government and a long road which runs to Trafalgar Square.Great Smith St The walk took me past so many extraordinary buildings such as Westminster Abbey.Westminster Abbey 1 Westminster Abbey The sculpture and detail on these buildings is beautiful.  Whitehall 4 Parliament Square.Parliament Square My least favourite Government Department !HM Revenue and Customs Whitehall 3 As I approached Downing Street, a very well known person walked towards me.  Sam’ Cam’ was out having a stroll with her daughter, Florence.Sam Cam Downing St and Whitehall The Cabinet Office.70 Whitehall Whitehall 2 Whitehall 1 Trafalgar Square – nearly there.T.Sq I was late to work today, for the first time in 2 and a half years.  So no time to grab breakfast.  I had taken lunch in and I ate it early.lunch 9-6-14 Roasted vegetables with fresh tomatoes.roast veg and toms Brown Basmati rice and giant prawns.prawns and rice

Unfortunately the rest of the days eating was a disaster but I am not sure why.  It just was so I need to do better tomorrow.  Much better.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)

Wow! What a walk to work you had. But I have to ask. Who is Sam Cam? Is she the wife of David Cameron?

    • I can’t remember ever doing that exact walk before and it is certainly many years since I have been to Whitehall. It really is a stunning part of London. I often marvel at our incredible architecture, modern as well as old.
