Wow ! What a scorcher! We had a fantastic weekend here in Southern England and the rain and thunderstorms predicted for Saturday never happened.
We spend Saturday afternoon and evening at a local music festival, Waddfest, where we could sit and chill and enjoy the sunshine. Rather a lot of cider and toffee vodka was enjoyed too. Thank you Vicky, it was great fun.
We had gorgeous Stella tempting us with cream teas,
Music to listen to,
many camped for the weekend,
‘Ewe – Rinal’ It is a sheep farm 🙂
There was plenty to eat. Burgers,
Cream teas and pies.
Sofas to sit on
or the ground or camping chairs. It was excellent.
Sunday was sunny nearly all day which was very enjoyable. I felt a little bit tired when I woke up so I made a smoothie with blueberries, blackberries, raspberries and spinach.
With soya milk, natural yogurt, chia seeds and cashew butter which is creamy and doesn’t over power the fruit flavours.
I would have liked to spend the day in the garden but with a special day out looming, Lara and I went shopping for something to wear. Lara tried outfits on I relaxed on this sofa. Completely upholstered in jeans.
Outfit purchased so we headed off to Cote where we sat in the sun and enjoyed lunch. I had steak with garlic butter, green salad and frites.
We have hardly seen each other since Lara came home last Sunday so it was great to catch up.
I resisted dessert and instead had a coffee and a glass of Muscat which was really good.
The cherry stalls are beginning to pop up which is always a welcome sight for me so we stopped off on the way home.
I do love cherry season and am lucky enough to live in an area full of cherry farms.
In the late afternoon I took Harvey up the road for a swim. He swam and I enjoyed gooseberry cake and wine.
Plus of course the lovely company and the views.
There was more! I returned home as we were celebrating Lara’s new job. Before she went to University she worked in Australia at All Saints vineyard during vintage. When she left she was given this very special bottle of Muscat.
It was in a beautiful slim bottle which had a very stylish glass stopper.
We enjoyed it in the garden with cheese, oat crackers and fruit.
It did taste extraordinary and I could have drunk a lot more but we were disciplined and enjoyed one glass today so we have some saved for another day.
Congratulations Lara on the job and thank you for sharing this amazing wine.
