Kale and Chard

I do like having lots of kale and chard in the garden and they seem to be there all year round which is even better.

I will cut the flowers off the kale this weekend but I have enjoyed having them recently as they provide a welcome splash of colour.kale flowers This morning I picked a handful of these leaveskale in garden 9-5-14 and rainbow chard.rainbow chard 9-5-14 The chard must be the most attractive plant in the garden but I actually prefer the flavour of spinach.chard 9-5-14 I do enjoy this though.swiss chaed 9-5-14 I made a cheese omelette for breakfast with a large serving of onions, kale and chard.breakfast 9-5-14 It was delicious.  Really good and I enjoyed every mouthful.   breakfast 9-5-14 1 I was stupidly busy again today at work and had no time for lunch, not even time to eat an apple and some nuts as I was racing against the clock all day.

So when I bought Harvey his Friday night fish supper I had one too.fish and chips 9-5-14 This has not been a good week for me and I put on 3 pounds, which is nearly everything I lost last week.  Very frustrating.

But to end on a very positive note, I was delighted to see Hartley Dyke Farm Shop lives on.  It is one of my favourite local shops and I go there every week so I am pleased for all the staff in there who work so hard and for all the local producers they help support.Hartley Dyke saved

Have a good weekend.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
