Lunch, But Not Like We Used To

More of that yummy Coco-Nutty Granola for breakfast, eaten with a small dollop of Greek yogurt and some almond milk.  I took it to work and ate it at my desk and yet again, it kept me going all morning until another late lunch.

breakfast 19-3-14 Back in the day, going out for lunch with colleagues was a very regular occurrence but these days it is very rare.  We all seem to work harder, faster and longer.  The team I sit next to were going out for lunch today to say farewell to someone re-locating to Switzerland and they invited me to join them.  We went to Jamie’s in Covent Garden.  I was not comfortable taking photos so I will have to tell you what I had.  Water to drink and a bun less burger with fries.  It was really good.

Now many years ago, a City lunch would have lasted hours and involved vast amounts of wine.  Todays had no alcohol at all and did not go on for hours.  Shame as I would have liked to sit there longer.  Mind you, lunch was brought to a halt by a poor man being taken very ill at the table behind us and then a fire alarm so we all had to evacuate.

So instead of food photos I took some pictures of my walk back to the office.  Hello Gudrun Sjoden.  4 pounds down, 10 to go and I will be there, shopping!outside of Gudrun's So this is one of my favourite parts of London, Seven Dials.  So called because the dial is in the middle of 7 streets that radiate out from the little roundabout with the dial on it.Seven Dials 5 Seven Dials 4 The little streets are not too busy, there is a chilled vibe and lots of interesting shops and cafes.Seven Dials 3 I read yesterday that Marcus Wareing is opening a cheap restaurant in Seven Dials which I will be interested to try.Seven Dials 2 The production of Matilda is excellent and well worth a visit.Seven Dials 1 These much bigger and grander buildings are at the Trafalgar Square end of the Strand which is beside Charring Cross train station.  The buildings looked even more stunning in the early evening light.looking up the Strand Neither of us were hungry for supper so I had a quick smoothie.  It had the remnants of Harvey’s smoothie in it so I did have a little bit of the apple and  raspberries he had.  I mainly had coconut water, Chia seeds, Flax seeds, Spirulina, Matcha powder, Coconut yogurt and some blackcurrants.  It came out a very unappetising green/grey colour but it tasted OK so i drank it and enjoyed the nutrients.Smoothie 19-3-14

I ate 3 reasonable meals today and managed some walking.  I didn’t eat enough vegetables but apart from that, I feel quite pleased with the days effort.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
