Roast In London

I left my smoothie at home this morning so I bought a green juice with a wheatgrass shot.  It had spinach and parsley in it plus apples and a kiwi.

green smoothie and red I was having a late lunch and my juice didn’t keep me going that long so I popped out and bought a mango and passionfruit Bircher muesli which I enjoyed with a large Rooibos tea.Passion fruit Bircher I was taken out for lunch by my recruitment consultant who I have never met before as he is based in Manchester.   We speak regularly so I was looking forward to meeting him.  Especially when he said I could choose where to go for lunch.  I chose Roast in Borough Market. If you click on the link, the main picture is what I had for lunch :-).  Roast is on the first floor of the building so you can look down on the market.View over Borough We had seats beside the window in a corner so we had fantastic views.View from Roast Roast is renowned for its meat so I chose a meat dish rather than a fish dish.  I went for the slow roasted belly of pork with mashed potato.  I wish it had been served with vegetables but apart from that, it was amazing.  The potato was perfectly creamy and smooth, the pork tender with well flavoured stuffing, sweet apple sauce and a rich gravy.Roast porkMatthew had a very large portion of fish and chips which he said was really good.  It looked great.
Roast fish and chips I was completely sated after my main but I did manage to squeeze in an apple and rhubarb crumble and custard which was really good.

Neither of us had any alcohol.  I had 2 Diet Cokes which are not healthy but at least they are calorie free.Crumble and custard

I had no intention of eating anything at home but the children had made cookies – it would have been rude to not try them!

So I ate too much today but it was a special occasion and I really enjoyed my lunch in Roast.  Thank you Matthew.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
