Feed a Cold

I was meant to fast today but still feel poorly with my cold, albeit considerably better then Tuesday.  So I decided to eat healthily and go for nutrient dense foods.

Back to work today and my train journey was considerably more enjoyable than usual thanks to the company of one of my lovely neighbours, David.

I took breakfast in with me; 30 g oats, 15 g chia seeds, 135 ml soya milk, and 100g blueberries.  The blueberries were frozen and by the time I sat down to eat my breakfast, they had frozen everything else!  So I had a frozen breakfast today.

A new discovery at lunch time was a Greek (I think) salad and olive bar in the Whitecross Market.  I have walked past it so many times and never stopped because I thought it was a deli.  Several people at work have raved about the salads so I made an effort to find them today.  I am glad I did!salad 5

Believe it or not, this is the small!  PLus a slab of Feta cheese and some coriander olives.Salad 4

This salad was delicious.  The olives were excellent so I shall get some tomorrow as they them separately.Salad 3

This little pot was packed with goodies.  Olives, tomatoes, sundried tomato paste, red cabbage, humous, couscous, lettuce, broad beans, lentils, broccoli, red peppers and carrots.Salad 2

I have probably missed some but it was all excellent.  Fresh and tasty.salad 1

I also bought 2 clementines and some berries to snack on in the afternoon.  I had the clementines but took the berries home.  Unfortunately, during the afternoon tea run a Snickers bar got the better of me 😦berries and clementines

I was home nice and early and was treated to a blackened steak with green beans cooked by my lovely daughter.  I did not eat the fat but I did yum up everything else.Blackened steak and green beans

I then felt it required a red wine but I couldn’t find any so I had a Drambuie on ice.  Then found the wine so I am having that too!  It is all medicinal, you understand 🙂

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)

Zoe, that wasn’t a Greek Salad for sure, but it sure looked like a fabulous Kitchen Sink Salad with Feta. I am amazed at all the wonderful places you have around work that are so filled with great food to eat.

I hope you are feeling better soon and sleep well with the red wine and Drambuie. 🙂 Happy Friday tomorrow. Enjoy your weekend. Bob goes in for Carpal Tunnel surgery tomorrow morning so I have dinner for both nights cooking in the crockpot with my homemade Spaghetti Sauce, better known as clean out what needs to be used out of the fridge and make spaghetti sauce out of it. 🙂
