Just Words

Today was the second of my restricted eating days i.e. eating only 500 calories.  Having read more about the science behind the Fast Diet (aka 5:2 diet), it seemed best to fast all day and have my 500 calories for supper.  I was aiming for 24 hours without food to give my body the best chance of getting in to an unfed state so it burnt more fat.  I ate supper last night at 7pm so I was aiming to wait until 7 pm tonight before eating anything.

It was incredibly easy.  Yes, truly it was.  I got to work at 8 am and knew I only had to go 11 hours without food but with unlimited black teas and coffees. I also only had to get through today on restricted calories as I can eat what I want tomorrow.

I had 2 black coffees and several herbal teas throughout the day.  I was really busy at work and found time flew by.  In fact, I even forgot I had not eaten until I sat on the train home.  I was very hungry at lunch time but I was stuck on a conference call and couldn’t even go and get another hot drink.   The hunger pangs went!  I thought they may get worse but they didn’t.  They just disappeared.

It is now nearly 9 pm, I have not eaten any supper and I still do not feel hungry so I am not going to eat anything.  I have had another herbal tea and that will do for the day.  Zero calories.  Zero photos too as I haven’t eaten anything.

Some really good news – I made it to Weight Watchers tonight for the first time in a month and I have lost 9 pounds 🙂 So all that denial during my 16 vegan days and now fasting is working.  I am really pleased as I have had some dreadful binge days in the last 5 weeks but overall, I have lost 9 pounds.  So I am really happy.  And really looking forward to breakfast tomorrow.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
