21 years ago today I looked like this! Soon after this picture was taken I was in hospital becoming a Mother for the first time.
Many hours later, during which time I nearly died, (I needed an emergency caesarean but I had an allergic reaction to the anaesthetic which brought on a massive asthma attack) I was able to focus on my lovely baby. Our first visitor was my sister Lucy. That hospital looks like something from a war zone!
She was such a beautiful baby.
Who grew in to a beautiful girl (this is her first appearance as a bridesmaid, at Sally’s wedding).
Who grew in to the beautiful young lady she is today. Happy birthday darling xx
I always feel emotional on my children’s birthdays and today was no exception. I find it hard not being with them on their special day but I can’t complain today as I had all weekend with Lara.
I started the day as I meant to go on, with a healthy breakfast. Porridge made with soya milk, with chia seeds, a banana and 1 tbsp almond nut butter.
It is snowy outside!!! I couldn’t get to work as Harvey’s school was closed until 9:30 am and there was no one to take him. My car is not good enough in the snow to tackle the long and winding icy lane that leads to his school and the near neighbour who often helps at such times was not going anywhere as the school her eldest 2 attend was closed for the day. So I worked from home. Apart from a walk around the garden and some energy expended clearing the drive a little bit, I didn’t go anywhere or do anything.
Lunch was easy – party leftovers of salmon, potato salad, noodle and mango salad and tomatoes.
It would be very hard to decide today, which of my gorgeous children was my favourite. Was it my little boy, who amused himself for hours at a time so I could focus on my work? He is seen here drinking a cup of tea I made him because I was concerned he may have frozen to the spot as he was in the garden for so long on his own. He had grand plans to build a fortress.
I suspect this will be as big as it gets though as the snow may start to melt tomorrow 🙂
Or is my favourite child of the day the gorgeous girl who sent me this beautiful bouquet of flowers as a thank you for spoiling her so much over the weekend. Which also came with chocolates which I ate during a lull in the afternoon. I can’t decide – as we all know, Mummys don’t have favourites. Thank you Lara, they are wonderful and you are very naughty to spend the money you don’t have anyway on me.
I didn’t finish working until gone 7 so supper was a tasty but rushed affair. Some stir fried onions, broccoli and tomatoes,
in a wrap.Too cold to go to Weight Watchers tonight so no weight update – which is most definitely a good thing this week!
