This Was The Week That Was…..

This was the week we went to the Paralympics 🙂

On Monday evening we had tickets to watch athletics in the stadium.

We had great seats – 14 rows up from the front

so we had wonderful views

We saw the flame and world records being set

the Paralympics was such good value for money.  There were events on constantly so we saw loads of races and were sorry to leave.

we were lucky with the weather too as it was just sunny, sunny, sunny and warm enough to be comfortable in short sleeves all night. As we left at 10:30 pm, people were still sitting outside enjoying the atmosphere

Not sure about the Orbit

can we have one of these please?

Er, no.

This was the week that we we went to the Paralympics again!

The Aquatic Centre this time

We saw Ellie Simmonds win bronze

and Heather Frederiksen win gold

Another opportunity to stand and sing the National Anthem

This was the week that took me away from home too much.  I worked a day in Gillingham, a day in Birmingham and 2 days in Glasgow.  I dislike flying so after working all day in Birmingham, I took the train to Glasgow.  Essential refreshment on board the Trans Pennine train!

The scenery was stunning, especially going through the Lake District.

This was the week I spent 2 nights in the Hilton, Glasgow which was rather lovely.  I had a HUGE room

Unusual view outside – the M8 !  But I can honestly say I did not actually hear any traffic from my room on the 14 th floor

This was the week I was in the same place as George Osbourne twice!  Once at the Paralympics, when he was booed, which I confess I enjoyed.  And once at MY hotel.  He had come up to Glasgow to antagonise meet with Alex Salmond and co re Scottish devolution so there was a very heavy police presence and media vans etc.  I was too tired though to manage many photos of my trip to Scotland.

This was the week I ate some healthy food such as peach and raspberries with natural yogurt and granola

a salad of leftover cod with home grown potatoes, lettuce and tomatoes

a room service supper of noodles, shredded vegetables and chicken in a hot, sweet and sour dressing

a yummy treat of room service cheese and oatcakes

Hilton hotel breakfast of yogurt, berries and muesli

and unfortunately loads of garbage.  I have been stressed and exhausted this week so I have eaten too much and too much that was not healthy.  Lara and I are doing a detox together next week, starting on Monday.  The detox kit is ready and waiting 🙂

This was the week that was the start of my birthday weekend.  I have a new little camera so I don’t have to lug round my much loved but very heavy and large SLR, which I am delighted with, a replacement zoom lens for the one I lost (oops) and a hamper full of goodies, all bought locally and chosen by my gorgeous children.

We didn’t have a healthy breakfast – we had cake.  A fabulous butterscotch cake Lara made which is all gold and pink and shimmery.  Absolutely stunning and just what every Mummy needs to start her birthday.

This was the week that was all a bit much.  But now I am breathing deeply and calmly and excited about the weekend ahead.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)

I loved the pictures of the Olympics and thank you so much for sharing. I am a huge lover of both the regular and paralymics, that I was able to catch online. I am so glad you got to experience this.

Cheers to your end of summer detox. May it revitalize your energy level and leave you feeling alive and healthy.

    Hugs across the miles,
    Laura and Bob
