She Started Walking

I couldn’t resist it today – had to have a Monmouth flat white and there was hardly any queue – surely an omen to get stuck in 🙂

Then off to Le Pain Quotidien for a yogurt granola parfait to take out,

with lots of delicious fruit on top.

I have been thinking about how to incorporate exercise in to my day for ages and had the idea of walking in a circuit, left out of my office, over Southwark Bridge, right along the North Bank, South over London Bridge and back to the office.  It has rained or I have been too busy.  But today I did it and it was great.  It took me 25 minutes and that included time to buy lunch.  I will be doing this regularly and it felt great to be outside in the sunshine, striding over the bridges and enjoying the views.

For supper I made a stir fry using up the last of the picnic couscous and loads of fresh veggies.

In my stir fry went:

1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp Shoyu/Soy Sauce
1 chunk of ginger, grated
1 leek
1 small onion
1 green pepper
2 large chestnut mushrooms
Bean sprouts
Baby sweetcorn
Left over couscous with vegetables
1 tbsp oil
1 tbsp peanut butter

I fried all the veggies in oil and shoyu and  then added the peanut butter which I loosened with 1 tbsp sesame oil.

It was delicious and I made enough for 2 so James could enjoy some too.

Lunch was a poor diet choice but the rest was good and I am so pleased I have started walking again.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)

You have to instinctively know how awesome it is for me to read you are doing this. Just think of all those feel great endorphins that will get released to do this and ultimately releasing any stress about work or riding home on the train against a smelly man! ☺
