Some days you just have to laze around on the sofa, in front of a real fire, watching silly films and eating quick and easy snacks. Today was one of those days.
I wasn’t lazy all day as I was down in Ramsgate by 9 am for a walk beside the seaside. One of my favourite things to do is to wake up, have a quick cuppa and head out for a walk by the sea. Before breakfast or doing any chores. Just get up and get out and enjoy the fresh air and watery landscape. It makes me feel alive and invigorated and happy. I need to live by the sea really. It was cold out there today, almost drizzling and very windy.
I had wanted to walk to Broadstairs and back along the beach but it was high tide.
No chance of getting down on to the beach this morning.
So we stuck to the promenade.
“We” being myself and Milton.
I didn’t have time to do the cliff top walk to Broadstairs so we walked as far as we could along the promenade.
Then turned round and headed back to the town.
Time for breakfast?
We went to one of my favourite eateries in Ramsgate – The Belgian Bar. Not favourite because of its gourmet food but because I like the laid back vibe, the friendly staff and their very dog friendly policy.
They brought Milton a bowl of water (I didn’t even need to ask).
He had some snacks I had brought and then settled under the table for a snooze.
Meanwhile, I enjoyed their vegetarian breakfast (bubble and squeak), hash brown, baked beans, tomatoes, mushrooms and toast with a soya milk latte. And had a chat with BJ in New Zealand – amazing to think I can call NZ for free via FaceTime, me in a bar in England and he on his sofa supping wine on the other side of the world, with a clear sound and a clear picture. It was great.
See you soon Ramsgate.
Harvey is recovering from a very bad bout of flu’ so when I was home we hunkered down in the lounge, with a real fire, a stack of dvds kindly loaned by a local friend and some snacks as I felt too tired today to want to cook. The snacks started off ok: nuts, dates and an apple.
They then deteriorated to crisps with humous (I should have had carrots and celery)
and flapjack and coconut ice.
Followed by a very long snooze!
So, a decent walk this morning meant I did get to 10,000 steps today but the food was not very healthy. It wasn’t excessive though in quantity. I only every buy small bags of crisps and individual cake/biscuit things so there is no danger of me gorging on them. That was all I had and I did enjoy it. Days like today are good for the soul and I expect to wake up tomorrow feeling refreshed.
