So I am not even pretending to have dieted today. I was going to try and be rigid but decided pretty early on today (about 5 minutes after I woke up!) to just go with the flow and eat like everyone else. So I did. I breakfasted on 1 hot cross bun and 1 mini hot cross bun.
I wanted to go for a walk as it was such a beautiful sunny day but I have really hurt my foot. I think this is day 3 and it is just not getting better. In fact the way I am walking has made my entire leg hurt so apart from hobbling around the garden, I am unable to do much more than that. My sister Abi and her family joined us for lunch and we enjoyed the lovely weather by holding an egg hunt round the garden.
It was lovely to see my family and to spend time outside in the sunshine.
I was not vegan today and went with vegetarian. For pre dinner nibbles we had cruditees (carrot, celery and pepper) and pitta bread with taramasalata and houmous.
For our main meal I made a Spinach and Gruyere tart and for the meat eaters, Alistair Little’s chicken stuffed with pancetta and coriander pesto which was very popular but I didn’t try any. I think my oven cooks unevenly! I served the tart (or chicken) with salad, new potatoes and garlic bread.
It is so enjoyable to sit round the table with some of one’s nearest and dearest.
Abi made a lovely rhubarb and custard tart. It was so good I had to have a second wafer thin slice. I also had some chocolate cake and 150 g Montezuma’s milk chocolate mini eggs with salted peanut butter.
Thank you for coming along Abi, Jim, Charlotte, Katie and Max and thank you for leaving my lovely neice, Charlotte, behind for a sleepover.
I will be back on the 801010 tomorrow but I did enjoy the respite today. I enjoyed the sunshine, the Spring flowers, the home made food, the red wine and most of all, I enjoyed being with my children and my family. I hope you all enjoyed your Easter Sunday too.
A lovely day and fabulous food :0)
I am glad you enjoyed it 😃
