Easter Sunday 2015

So I am not even pretending to have dieted today.  I was going to try and be rigid but decided pretty early on today (about 5 minutes after I woke up!) to just go with the flow and eat like everyone else.  So I did.  I breakfasted on 1 hot cross bun and 1 mini hot cross bun.

I wanted to go for a walk as it was such a beautiful sunny day but I have really hurt my foot.  I think this is day 3 and it is just not getting better.  In fact the way I am walking has made my entire leg hurt so apart from hobbling around the garden, I am unable to do much more than that.daffs under tree My sister Abi and her family joined us for lunch and we enjoyed the lovely weather by holding an egg hunt round the garden.K egg hunt It was lovely to see my family and to spend time outside in the sunshine.Bs and Ws Abi and I I was not vegan today and went with vegetarian.  For pre dinner nibbles we had cruditees (carrot, celery and pepper) and pitta bread with taramasalata and houmous.

For our main meal I made a Spinach and Gruyere tart and for the meat eaters, Alistair Little’s chicken stuffed with pancetta and coriander pesto which was very popular but I didn’t try any.  I think my oven cooks unevenly!Easter lunch 2 I served the tart (or chicken) with salad, new potatoes and garlic bread.Easter lunch 1It is so enjoyable to sit round the table with some of one’s nearest and dearest.Easter Sunday lunch Abi made a lovely rhubarb and custard tart.  It was so good I had to have a second wafer thin slice.  I also had some chocolate cake and 150 g Montezuma’s milk chocolate mini eggs with salted peanut butter.rhubarb and custard Thank you for coming along Abi, Jim, Charlotte, Katie and Max and thank you for leaving my lovely neice, Charlotte,  behind for a sleepover.A and C

I will be back on the 801010 tomorrow but I did enjoy the respite today.  I enjoyed the sunshine, the Spring flowers, the home made food, the red wine and most of all, I enjoyed being with my children and my family.  I hope you all enjoyed your Easter Sunday too.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
