A Long and Leisurely Sunday

It was lovely to wake up this morning knowing I had nothing in the diary so nothing to rush about for which made a very pleasant change.

I started the day with a hot water with apple cider vinegar and honey.  Aunty Hilary and Miranda had said on Wednesday that they have this at the beginning of every day.honey, vinegar and water There are many reported health benefits of drinking vinegar and even the bottle claims it makes an ‘invigorating  tonic’.  It didn’t taste bad but I think it is an acquired taste.apple cider tonic We were planning a late lunch so I made us all a more substantial breakfast than usual with home grown potatoes, ham and a poached egg.ham egg and potato For our main meal, everything except the meat was from the garden.potatoes and apples We had roast belly of pork.roast pork belly With trombetti and carrots.garden veggies The potatoes did not make great roasting potatoes which is a shame because they are lovely boiled.roast pork dinner 11-10-14 The pork was not as tender as I was hoping for either so that was disappointing.  The apple sauce and vegetables were good.roast pork 11-10-14 The chocolate pudding with a little of Harvey’s crumble and cream was delicious but not very diet friendly.  Neither was the fudge or piece of cake I had after our walk!choc pudding and crumbleOn the plus side I did go on a decent walk today.  We walked from Sissinghurst Village through fields and woods to the castle and lakes and back again.

Not the healthiest day’s eating, definitely not enough fruits and vegetables and too much sugar.  It was a lovely relaxing day though.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
