A Lunch With A View

I was woken up today with a jolt, wondering what on earth the loud noise was.  It was rain!  It was like a Monsoon but only very briefly.  So the weather prognosis did not seem good.  However, it turned in to the most glorious day.

I have not been in to Le Pain Q for a while so I ventured in today and selected a skinny latte and a granola parfait.  Taken in to the office and eaten at the desk as usual.

Le Pain Q granola Parfait 1 Natural yogurt, granola and fresh fruit.Granola, fruit and yogurt Lovely fruit selection on top.Fruit on granola I went in here for lunch.  For those who don’t know it, this is Tate Modern, an art gallery with a fabulous restaurant on the 6th floor.Tate Modern I was taken here for lunch by a work colleague, Kevin, who I got to know as we used to sit next to each other.  He is leaving so we went out for lunch.  We were so lucky as we had a table by the window.  Look at that amazing view!View from our table Looking over the river I always think this view of the Millennium Bridge looks like one of those architect’s models.Milenium Bridge from Tate So it is worth going here for the view alone.  As a huge big bonus, the food is amazing too.

This was a delicious crab patty, with rye toast and quail’s eggs.crab and quail's eggs This fish and chips was perfect.  The batter was so light it was almost like tempura.fish and chips TateThis dessert was extraordinary!  Bitter chocolate and raspberry tart with pistachio crumble.  The flan base was crunchy and light, the chocolate deep and intense and the raspberries sweet and juicy.

There was no need for supper after that lot so I had a smoothie, made with an orange, apricots, banana, cacao and almond butter and coconut water.

Not a diet friendly day but an amazing foodie day – thank you Kevin.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
