This year Harvey’s birthday was on a Monday, which is a boring old day to have a birthday, whatever age you are. So we had a pre-birthday on Sunday and let him have his present a day early early – a new bicycle.
It was such a glorious day we headed out to our local forest. I have not been on a bike since October and was slightly anxious but also looking forward to the exercise and being in the forest. Not anxious about whether I could ride my bike but anxious about getting tired too quickly. It was all good though and we cycled around for about an hour and a half. It was excellent actually and we can’t wait to go back.
The new bike was put through its paces. Mud was no problem.
Neither were small hills.
Wait for me, little fella.
On the way in to the forest we pass by this Alpaca farm.
Funny looking creatures, they probably thought when we stopped to take their photo.
This morning the birthday boy was up bright and early.
It is traditional in our house to have American style pancakes with maple syrup for a birthday breakfast. I managed to resist.
Quick chat to his sister and then off to school.
He set off with a birthday cake to share with his friends. One half was chocolate and one vanilla sponge under a generous layer of whipped buttercream icing and then completely covered in Smarties and M&Ms. People who know me will spot the section I was allowed to decorate 🙂
I had 2 eggs on toasted wholemeal bread. Then I picked on way too many nuts and dried fruits so was not very hungry at lunch time.
For lunch I had a green smoothie made with celery, kale, a kiwi, kelp and a mango.
A very green Green Smoothie !
After school Harvey came home with 3 of his lovely friends who had a great time. I don’t get many opportunities to see Harvey with his friends and I really enjoyed hearing them chatting and laughing. They are growing up, these boys.
The boys had pizza and ice cream for tea. I had …… yup…… pizza and ice-cream ! A bad day’s eating for me as I picked too much. Just one of those days for me but a very happy one for my special boy.
Happy days with your boy – sometimes it just has to be pizza and ice cream xx
It has been a while since I had pizza and I did enjoy it. I was also complimented by the little fella who was disappointed they were not homemade pizzas. I agree home made are best but I was working all day.
My boy certainly enjoyed his pizza and ice cream – thank you for having him – and Happy Birthday Harvey. xx
It was lovely to have them all there. Harvey really enjoyed his birthday which was what I wanted. They are an entertaining bunch of boys 🙂
