That Sunday Feeling

It has been a long time since I have had that Sunday feeling!  About 11 months in fact.  11 months since I have had to think about what do I need to organise and prepare so I am ready for work tomorrow?

I spent the morning in Ramsgate and it was sunny again 🙂 .  We all enjoyed another long and leisurely breakfast.

Egg and bacon today, followed by bread, cheese, jam and fruit.

The food was good but the company was the best thing.  After breakfast we chatted via Facebook Video to Katherina who is recuperating from surgery and was unable to join us.  Having Katherina with us was the only thing that would have made this weekend better but at least we got to see her for a chat.

I know it is my house and I should perhaps not make such boasts but the first floor sitting room is a lovely room.  It is large and spacious and always flooded with light thanks to the large bay window.  When it is sunny outside the sun streams in and it really is one of my favourite places to sit and relax.

My friends have a habit of re-arranging the furniture in this room and this group was no exception.

I am happy with the new layout and happier to sit in it with such lovely company while we had more tea and coffee and carried on chatting.

I don’t think we stopped all weekend.

Chatting that is.  And laughing, shrieking, giggling, reminiscing, discussing, debating.  And listening.  Lots and lots of listening.

After a flurry of tidying, cleaning and bed making, it was time to say farewell.  Good-byes can be hard but although I miss my friends this was not a sad good-bye.  As a group we have never spent a whole weekend together before.  I felt reassured for the future of these special friendships that we can meet up again after not seeing each other for years in some cases, and just pick up where we left off from, as if we had last seen each other yesterday.   We all had a great time so I know we can do this again one day and I look forward to it.

It was lovely to get home too and we had some scones and tea and then I began to get myself prepared for tomorrow.  James cooked supper: salmon with new potatoes, green beans, peas, carrots and spinach which was lovely.

Now that Sunday feeling is really kicking in.  A blend of happy memories and contented exhaustion from a fabulous weekend, planning and preparation for the week ahead and anxiety about what the next day will bring.

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in Hastings, East Sussex, with my son Harvey and dog, Milton. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I do not eat animal products so follow a vegan diet. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)
