Detox Day 3

According to my detox literature, after Day 3, one can begin to feel euphoric on the detox.  The only euphoria I feel is that I can eat some real food tomorrow and this 3 day fast of shakes, water and broth is over:-).  For the last 3 days, my life has been ruled by the strict timetable of when to take shakes and tablets from these little sachets.

I am really pleased with myself for sticking to it.  I wasn’t sure if I could when I started but I did it.  I had a lot more energy today than days 1 and 2 which is a good thing as I was rather busy.

I had to go to London to sign some papers for my return to work in 3 weeks time.  While there, I walked from Chancery Lane to Oxford Street and tried on a few jackets and suits for work.  Nothing was quite right though so I came home.  To be honest, although I felt more energetic than days 1 and 2, I was too tired to get excited about buying anything.

There is no snow in London!  I slept most of the way home on the train and when I woke up at Marden it was a surprise to see everything white again.

This evening Fiona and Judy came for supper.  I cooked for them (salmon and roasted vegetables) and I drank my broth and we had a lovely evening.  I seem to be able to disassociate myself from the food around me and was not tempted to eat anything which is a weird state of affairs.

I went to Weight Watchers and lost 8 pounds!!!  I realise there is a chance I will put it all back on but I am amazed I have lost 8 pounds after just 3 days detoxing.  I bet I am the first person up for breakfast in my house tomorrow :-).

About Lose Weight and Gain Health

Hi! My name is Zoe and I live in a small village in the beautiful Weald of Kent with my husband and 2 children. I have been fighting the fat for years but this time I am serious. I want to lose weight and gain health. This blog is about how I am changing my lifestyle so I can lose weight but not by just "being on a diet" but by making small changes to our lives so that as I lose weight, I gain health. I want my family to be healthy too and never have to struggle with their weight like I have. In common with many large people, I have gained and lost weight many times over the years. This time, I want to lose it and maintain a healthy low weight. I am interested in eating food that is nutrient dense and delicious and that appeals to children and adults. I try to use locally produced food supplemented with what I can grow myself. I support and try to use local farmers markets and farm shops. After all, I live in the 'Garden of England' so it seems silly to not take advantage of that. Another objective is to add more exercise to our days. It sounds so simple when I write it down :-)

Chris and I did a detox diet once. Notice I say once. 🙂
Good for you though – I bet you’re feeling great. xxx

Great work Zöe! Spring and Fall are when most people, who regularly do detoxes do them. If it was me, I would do them after holidays away and the holiday season!

Enjoy your breakfast tomorrow morning and keep it light. As much as you want to dive right back in, keeping your eating plan lighter than normal for the next couple of days, increasing the carb and fat content a bit each day will help your body adjust better.

Next time you want to do a detox, you may want to look into Dax Moy’s Elimination Diet, which at least allows certain foods.

I’m proud of you for sticking to this all three days. You are a winner.

Any word yet about volunteering for the Summer Games?

    • Hi Laura, nothing about the games yet. I was told I may have to wait until March so I am not panicking yet.
Winter is a difficult time to do a detox and the day after I started we have had the coldest weather all season so I am finding it very hard going. But I am doing it :-). I will follow your advice next time and detox in Spring.
